Thank You card from You & Me

I wanted to make a thank you card for our friends who let us borrow their apartment at the beach. I also want to finish up the scraps in the You & Me paper kit and I came up with this card based off a scrapbook design from Magic: On With the Show. I'm wishing I had more scraps to make one to keep for myself!

Enjoy your holiday but remember the sacrifices necessary for you to gather with your friends to celebrate the start of summer. Blessings!

60th Birthday Party

My dad turned 60 on Mother's Day - and my family threw a surprise birthday party for him. It was a labor of love for a man who is so instrumental and influential in so many  lives. We were all able to use our gifts and talents to celebrate this wonderful man and below are some photos of my contributions. Enjoy!

Thank You card

This is the card I designed for my dad to use as his Thank you cards from his party last weekend. I veered away from the exact colors of the party (I just got tired of using them!) but they stayed close to keep the feeling. I wanted to do something super easy because I was making so many but also some thing impressive since I was making them for someone else to use. I used Juniper ink and cardstock, and pearl opaques.

Embossing backgrounds

Since I joined Close to My Heart last fall, I've been in self-imposed exile from the local craft stores only so I'm not tempted to buy something I already have (a sad, but often repeated offense). But my dad's birthday party was fast approaching and I was in charge of favors, table numbers and other things my family thought I would like doing. As I was walking through the two craft stores who share a parking lot I was only finding things on sale that I needed to buy for the party. I had a 40% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket - actually I had given in to my son so I wouldn't forget it and he was waving it in front of me. Constantly. (He's good at helping me remember things)so I wondered over to an aisle I don't visit often - Cuttlebug, Cricut and Sizzix territory. I was lucky enough to find an embossing machine from Sizzix for a price I was willing to pay with the coupon and a folder I could use this weekend. This is the result:
I used a template from Wishes Card Confidence Program and some scraps left over from the Wings Workshop on the Go. The background image is from the Wings WOTG kit stamp set and the sentiment is from Treasures stamp set. The card base was embossed using the Sizzix then sanded.

Cards from "You and Me" Kit - exclusively available in May only!

Here is some cards I made after being inspired from the consultant bulletin boards. The original artist is Lisa Stenz (one of the Design Team at Heart 2 Heart, another consultant website) and just like in college, we were told to read the book then close it before writing out our notes so it's not plagiarism. I walked away from my computer and got to work. This is what I came up with. I made 7 cards in about a half hour (a new personal record!) and I absolutely love them!

I should have used a different background for the photos considering the cards but I wanted to get these posted quickly so you don't forget about me!

Remember that this kit is only available in May - and there are three ways to get it! Ask me how you can get it for FREE!

There are some other AWESOME deals and specials in May so check out my Specials tab or contact me for more ways to get lots of great CTMH product for free!
