Joyful Stars New Product Blog Hop: Babycakes

Hello and welcome to the August Joyful Stars Blog Hop featuring new products from the new Idea Book. 

If you came here from Nickie's blog you're on the right track.  It's a circular hop, so if you're starting out here  you can keep going 'round till you come back again. There is a list of participants at the bottom of the post if you want to skip ahead. 

I've been working on this layout in my head for awhile because I started with the right page from the Idea Book but since it's from the Reflections How-To Program book and doesn't suggest a left side page design, I had to work on it myself. *sigh* I really like how CTMH does all the planning work for me, so having to design something myself is time consuming... but I suffered through and after about the third sit-down, I finally have something I like. 

I wanted to use the same pattern but vary the sizes of the squares to make it stand out but it wasn't until I decided to use an 8x10 photo mat did the layout come together.

I enjoyed using some of new Irristables Hexagon shapes, very easy to ink up and stick to the page.

The new cork shapes are fun to use, they come in lots of shapes and sizes and given that they already have adhesive makes it super easy. Just peel and stick!

I also tried a new-to-me technique - sewing! I finally got my sewing machine fixed (okay, the problem was really the user but I got that fixed but finding a good instructor!) and I've been playing! I am thrilled with how easy it is to add a little panache to the page with some stitches. I will be experimenting with some of our stitches stamping sets so stay tuned for some more on this topic!

The blank spot on the left side is where I will place the date of the photos when I finally decided which ones to use. For now, my scrapbooking style is to make the page then find photos to fit. I have so many photos to preserve from the last many years that I can't work in any order at this point.

Paper Pack: Victory

Here are two cards I made with the Victory paper pack and the Family Love stamp set. I used the same design on both cards but embellished them differently.

In the first card, I used the wooden buttons and Foundry Pin Clips to accessorize the card. 

 In the next card, I used the large button from the wooden buttons set with natural hemp and a star from the Milestone shapes pack that I sponged in Chocolate ink.

Winter Weekend Crop

Now that the holiday rush is over, it's time to sit down and enjoy some peace and quiet... and get some scrapbooking done! I am hosting a Winter Weekend Crop in Lancaster February 10-12.

Christmas gifts

Now that Christmas has come and gone, I can share some of the gifts I made to give away. Here is the gift I made for my Father-in-law. His wife and I enjoy sharing lots of time scrapbooking together, even traveling to weekend crops together. (I have the best mother-in-law in the world!)

When he unwrapped this box, he smiled and began to put it down thinking the box itself was the gift. I smiled and told him to look inside. The smile on his face was precious - inside, he found two tickets to see his favorite gospel band, the Gaithers, when they come to town. To anyone else, the box would have been enough but every gift giver knows you have to buy (or make) for the receiver.

I used a discontinued paper pack, Grace, from Close to My Heart, as well as the cork letters (so easy with the adhesive already on the back) and Irresistibles chipboard cutouts. I inked the edges of the My Creations card box in Cocoa, adhered the paper to the box with Tombow adhesive (LOVE, Love, love this stuff) and used Glue Dots to make the key on the front "pop" to use as a handle to open the box. The box is made with a magnetic clasp inside so it latches securely.

Fall Open House this weekend

I am having so much fun playing with all the goodies that debuted in the Fall/Winter Idea Book that I have literally forgotten to take pictures and post them to share with you! I lent my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to a fellow consultant so she can get ready for her Open House so I wasn't able to play tonight - so I'll get caught up here - get ready because there's a lot! :)

First, my Open House is Friday evening & all day Saturday. Different things are happening each day so check my schedule but do what works for you - all my new products and projects will be out for viewing all weekend so the important thing is to stop by and see it!

Friday evening from 5-8pm I am doing a Product Preview:: This is where I will have all the product out for you to get your hands on it! First Day to see the New Idea Book

Today is the day - here is the new Fall/Winter 2011 Idea Book from Close to My Heart! It is stuffed full of great new products as well as some old favorites.
